Communications infrastructure that enables to access to information of status and location of drugs through services that implement traceability mechanisms based on the RFID-GS1 standard.

The traceability  management platform  covers all points in the distribution chain of drugs (laboratories, distributors and offices and hospital pharmacies) using EPCglobal standard architecture in order to ensure compatibility with other systems of traceability and subsequent convergence with future traceability platforms.

The system provides an opportunity to improve the comprehensive management of drug distribution chain, incorporating security mechanisms through reading and management of id-tags in order to mitigate the serious economic and social effects caused by counterfeit medicines.

It provide the following services:

  1. Information on the status of batches of drugs, according to registration date, type, expiration date, batch, etc.
  2. Detection of expiration drugs and defective items or lots.
  3. Notification of malfunctions in the use of the platform.
  4. Scheduled notifications as events: Arrival of a particular batch of medicines, calculating the remaining time for the completion of a shipment.
  5. Error notifications and alerts via instant messaging.
  6. Stock control mechanisms and medications loss control.
  7. Security at the application level for the services provided by the platform.
